Intramural Sports at TR

In college, intramural sports are very common because it's an outlet for students to play their favorite sport, without the competitive nature.

So why doesn't ThunderRidge offer these options?

One of the main reasons why ThunderRidge doesn’t have intramural sports, says XXXXX, is that it could be difficult to get the sports started and to find lots of students to participate in them. Although it might be tough to organize, ThunderRidge students could benefit from the offering because intramural sports would be a good way to meet people, while playing your favorite sport without the commitment of a full season and the need for excellence.

Some intramural possibilities could include: non-conventional sports like badminton, kickball, or ping pong to give more people opportunities to enjoy a sport with others. Everyone loves a great game of ping pong, but it sometimes can be hard to find others that enjoy it too and a place to play.

You could also play more mainstream sports like football, baseball, volleyball, or basketball without having to make a team or having to practice everyday. Another great reason for ThunderRidge to have intramural sports is that if someone cannot or does not want to play that day, they do not have to.

One issue with this proposal is that intramural sports would need funding. A good way to pay for intramural sports is to fundraise to pay for equipment. Also, the school already has most of the equipment necessary and the intramural sport would need to get permission to borrow the equipment and possibly put down a security deposit for the equipment.

Therefore, intramural sports are a good way to make new friends and just have fun. Intramural sports would allow students to find a healthy outlet where they could spend time with friends, practice sports for fun, and forget about the stresses of school in an appropriate way.
